DESCRIPTION
--------------------------------
- Layer Name: Skills
- Impact Rating: 2 of 3
- Description:
This datapack adds a new layer to Origins gameplay, allowing players to unlock additional functionality by improving their Skills. When starting the game, you will be weaker, slower, and less capable than you may be used to. But through actions like sprinting, breaking blocks, fighting, harvesting crops, and sneaking, you will learn to hone your Skills, slowly getting faster, stronger, and more experienced as you learn. Each skill has its own tracking system, which is used to increase its associated skill level. Upon reaching Levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 of a skill, weaknesses will be removed and slowly replaced by reward powers. Skill progress is also variable depending on your game's difficulty setting, as a risk-reward mechanic; harder difficulties allow you to level more quickly than the lower difficulty settings. To check your skill progress, holding a piece of paper in your off-hand will display your main-hand skills, and holding paper in the main-hand will display the off-hand skills.

- Increasing Skills:
	- Acrobatics: This increases each time you hit the ground after jumping or falling (with more experience from longer falls).
	- Athletics: Sprinting and swimming will increase this skill's progress.
	- Defense: Each time you are hit by an enemy, your Defense will improve by a small amount.
	- Excavation: Increase this skill by digging in dirt, gravel, sand, and other soft blocks.
	- Farming: Harvest fully-grown crops to advance this skill.
	- Marksmanship: Successfully targeting enemies with bows, crossbows, and tridents will improve this skill.
	- Mining: Gain mining experience by breaking stone and ores blocks.
	- Stealth: Sneaking and being in the dark will make you better at stealth.
	- Swordsmanship: Hit your enemies with swords to improve your swordsmanship.
	- Woodcutting: Chop wood logs or hit enemies with axes to get better with this skill.

- Skill Rewards:
	- Acrobatics: You will learn to jump higher and fall further without taking damage as this skill improves.
	- Athletics: Higher skill levels will allow you to run faster, swim faster, exhaust slower, and breathe underwater longer.
	- Defense: Improving this skill will reward you with extra hearts and moderate fire resistance.
	- Excavation: Your digging speed will improve as you increase this skill, and you may find valuable treasures while digging!
	- Farming: As you gain farming experience, you will also learn to find XP orbs in your crops and build a helpful scarecrow.
	- Marksmanship: Projectile damage will increase along with this skill, and you will also learn to weaken enemies with strategic targeting.
	- Mining: Mine faster with higher skill levels, and even figure out how to break high-level ores with low-level pickaxes.
	- Stealth: When you improve stealth, you'll gain the ability to dodge attacks and become invisible while sneaking.
	- Swordsmanship: Hit harder with your sword as you get better with this skill, to the point of even uppercutting them into the sky.
	- Woodcutting: Fell trees more quickly and learn to strike enemies with a damage-over-time bleeding effect with your axe.

- Notes & Feedback:
This is an experimental release. Each of the powers have been tested to ensure they work, but it's possible that the new 0.7.0 update may have broken some of them in unexpected ways. Furthermore, the datapacks has NOT been properly balanced yet. If you use this datapack, please inform me (@Pello [user #6036] on the Official Origins Discord) of any bugs or balance issues you encounter by pinging me in the #support-datapacks channel, or through DMs. If you have suggestions for additional skills, reward powers, or any other additions, I'm also open to hearing those! But it should be noted that this datapack is very restricted when it comes to creating new abilities, since the Skills layer stacks with other Origin layers (meaning that active powers are not possible right now, only passive powers).

I've tried to balance them as much as possible to prevent the default Origins from becoming too underpowered in early game or overpowered in late game, but I cannot promise that this release will be balanced for datapack Origins, which may require special treatment. For example, I've included a small compatibility fix for the Myconoid and Hexblade datapacks by Jasel Umena (and similar datapacks with very low starting health), which replaces the initial health drain of the Defense skill with a "modify_damage_taken" debuff instead, allowing users of those datapacks to play with Skills without immediately dying. Additional datapack support will be an ongoing project, but it will require input from the community that lets me know about any compatibility issues so they can be solved. If playing on a server, you can disable the skills functionality for an individual player by selecting the "Normal" function with an Orb of Origin or by using this command in the command bar (replace "Apellonyx" with the target player's ID):
		/origin set Apellonyx origins:skills skills:normal

- Future Plans:
+ Creating a time-based mechanic that will slowly drain skill experience over time, requiring the player to actively use their skills to keep their associated bonuses.
+ Replacement of current resource bars with custom variants that make their meanings and current levels more obvious to users.
+ Addition of a Building skill, which is still in the brainstorming phase.
+ Addition of a Magic skill, which is also still in the brainstorming phase.
